The Initial Visioning Work
Below are the results from our initial visioning work. We do expect to continue to work on this.
Purpose:
Our goal is to serve as a community based network advocating for people with end of life concerns.
Process:
Build network
Information via media and arts
Provide education via such means as symposia, text, CEUs
Get funding
Facilitate workshops, support groups (a train the trainer to create capability)
Advocate available options
Effect legislative change
Pay-off (within three years)
Legislative changes
A hotline that serves as a resource/mechanism for quick response and for easy access to EOL information
Resource center with multiple resources and references
Raised consciousness of EOL concerns and a common understanding, as well as the ability to communicate re EOL concerns with comfort
Regional workforce
Consideration for caregivers, such as changes in reimbursement increased to give caregivers compensation
Every person in our region has access to EOL care regardless of physician direction
Our group is viewed as a pivotal point locally and statewide because we are experts (also national and international)
Raised consciousness on African-American community
Diversity issues are addressed.
